Make the role visible

• A name. Everyone knows who to ask, and who stands in when you’re away.
• Time. A few hours a month written into your role.
• A deputy. Someone to share the work, so it doesn’t rest on one tired person.

Keep the basics going

• A standing security item in a meeting you already have.
• Security in a new colleague’s first week, and on the day someone leaves.
• Thanks, not blame, for everyone who reports a problem.
• Regular checks, using the checklists in this handbook.

Ask your director for

• Someone senior to own the incident response plan.
• The same rules, followed in public. Leaders set the example.
